Kevin Laatsch brings more than just 25 years experience to Muscle Up Performance. He also provided the building and many of the tools inside it.
Laatsch ran Pathfinder Chassis - a Wisconsin-based race car chassis shop - before selling the current Muscle Up Performance location to Rich Bickle.
Before saying so long to the race car business, Laatsch and his Pathfinder staff cranked out more than 235 chassis over a 15-year period. The car was a huge success on the ultra-tough Wisconsin and Midwestern stock car ranks winning countless races and championships.
Bickle, along with other top NASCAR stars such as Matt Kenseth, Travis Kvapil, and Scott Wimmer drove Pathfinder Chassis based stock cars to victory.
Despite the success, Laatch was looking to branch out and three years ago sold the race car end of the business and began to concentrate on muscle car and hot rod restoration and repair.
Selling the building and assets to Bickle and rebranding the company as Muscle Up Performance and Rod Shop has allowed Laatsch - who oversees all design and construction at Muscle Up Performance - a chance to get more hands-on product and less business management focused.
"That's what I really wanted most of all," said Laatsch, 43. "I really wanted to be working on things, not running a business. Rich allows me to do that here. It's great having a turnkey, one-stop shop. You don't have to take your car someplace else for fabrication, paint, media blasting, engine, mechanical, construction or finishing. We can handle everything for the customer from delivery to pick up. The customer can drop it off and pick it up done. That's pretty cool."
